Overview

Sitewatch TerminalSitewatchTM is a management information tool designed to help businesses run more efficiently. It enables organisations to manage and control the contents of tanks and silos at remote locations in order to optimise inventory and to minimise supply chain costs. It has no boundaries, operating over almost all communications links, connecting you with your outlying facilities at home and abroad. It takes the guesswork out of inventory management by creating a global inventory on your desktop in real-time; enabling you to make informed decisions about when and where stocks should move. By selecting 'proactive mode' you can also receive automatic alerts as stocks reach user-defined reorder levels or when demand becomes abnormal. Compatible with both traditional and e-business supply chains, SitewatchTM opens the gateway for electronic trading whereby demand propagates right across the supply chain for automatic stock replenishment.

Basic Concept

RIM Diagram

The basic concept is quite straightforward. First, we automatically measure the contents of a tank or silo. Then, using ordinary telephone lines, ISDN, GSM communications, existing corporate networks or the Internet, we transfer the measurement to any desktop anywhere in the world. A system can be configured to link all the players in the supply chain and to permit Web-browser access to information on a secure 'need-to-know' basis.

Visibility on the desktop

Whether you're a User managing your own inventory, a Vendor managing inventory on behalf of clients or a Haulier providing a complete transport-logistics service - you can't manage without information. SitewatchTM puts that information on your desktop in real-time.

Data can also be posted directly to your own secure area on our website, see here for an online demo.

Remote Terminal Units

Mini/Midi RTUSitewatchTM MINI & MIDI RTU's are intelligent microprocessor based Remote Terminal Units which are used to monitor and control equipment at remote locations. RTU's communicate with their Master Station computer over the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), cellular telephone networks, dedicated lines, radio or IP networks.

SitewatchTM MINI & MIDI RTU's are normally supplied in a robust, weatherproof, moulded ABS enclosure, internally screened for RFC compliance. Each RTU is physically and functionally split into two internal printed circuit boards; the processor board fitted into the hinged lid and the input/output board mounted in the base of the enclosure. All field connections are made to plug-in screw terminals on the input/output board. A back-lit, 4-line x 20-character Liquid Crystal Display and Hex keypad is fitted for local operator display and interrogation.

The RTUs have built-in data logging facilities for all inputs and outputs and a real-time clock which is used to time-stamp the logs. The baseline operational software (boot software) is held in non-volatile EPROM memory with application programs and critical site configuration data held in Flash ROM. Logged data is held in battery-backed CMOS static RAM. Each RTU has two serial data ports, one of which is configured for the Master Station communications interface and a second which can be used for local interrogation, connection to other RTUs via a Local Area Network or for interfacing to other intelligent site equipment.

MINI RTU's have 4 digital inputs and 4 analogue inputs. MIDI RTU's have 8 digital inputs, 8 analogue inputs and 2 digital outputs fitted as standard, although 8 extra digital inputs or 4 pulse inputs can be added. All RTU's have an on-board 24 V DC, 250mA supply for powering external analogue transducers.
