Lee-Dickens has been involved in the design, development and
manufacture of electronic industrial process control and instrumentation
systems and equipment since 1964. Since then our engineering department
has grown into a team of hardware and software design engineers
with many years experience. We have an enviable record for product
design, innovation and quality established over a wide customer
base. Our expertise in Conceptual Design, Design Consultation, Prototype
and Production Manufacturing to customer specifications has ensured
customer satisfaction for many years.
An
essential ingredient for the success of any project is control and
therefore we place great emphasis on project management. Based on
Management-by-Objectives, critical path evaluation and the experience
of our staff, we have developed project procedures and evaluation
systems which are designed to ensure that timely decisions are made
based on accurate information, thus ensuring that projects are completed
on time and within budget. Continuing input from our customers,
achieved through regular project meetings, ensures their active
participation in our decision making process and maintains their
interests and objectives in full view throughout the project life
cycle.
Our project organisation is centred around a qualified and experienced
Project Manager, who is responsible directly to the company's Managing
Director. The Functional Design Specification (FDS) is written by
the project manager combining the customer specification and the
tender offer. The FDS is agreed at a Critical Design Review and
becomes the project specification for the supplier and the customer.
Once the critical design review is completed, the project team is
resourced to meet the agreed project time scales. The project team
carries out all specialist development works and generates the Production
Test Specification (PTS) documents in accordance with the procedures
laid down in the Design Engineering Practices and Procedures Manual.
Our hardware design team have many years experience of analogue
and digital hardware design. The team maintain pace with technological
advances using CAD facilities, and provide specialist interfaces
and housings as and when they are required. If the product is to
be microprocessor based or require an accompanying Software package
then our in-house software team can provide the necessary expertise.
The final software suite forms a series of "tools" which are then
used by the applications engineer to configure the system to meet
the customers operational requirements. Hardware and Software development
is carried out in accordance with procedures laid down in our Design
Engineering Practices & Procedures (DEP&P) Manual which are approved
to ISO9001 and the software requirement of ISO9003 Tick-IT.
Manufacturing and production have become more and more automated
over the years and our facilities are no exception. We now have
computer aided component placement machines, cropping machines,
flow soldering machines and de-flux baths. However, there is still
a requirement for experienced operators at hand soldering components.
Our forte lies in the small batch build (10 to 200 units per month)
of high quality pcb's/assemblies.
